Really.

So I've got a plot of dirt roughly 40 square feet, of the 2'x20' variety.  My world-domination plan goes thusly:
  1. Plant tulips relatively deep in the bed.  So far I have about 6-8 varieties in the fridge.  Tulips will bloom late spring, early summer.
  2. Plant narcissus relatively shallow in the bed.  Narcissus will bloom early spring.
  3. Delayed planting of various poppies (california, flanders, iceland).  Poppies to bloom mid to late summer.  This will mean planting poppies around mid-December to early January.
Question: How to work dahlias into this mix?

Question: What perennials should I put in the bed as well to provide year-round interest?
